Here is a beautiful poem I just read in The Hungry Ear: Poems of Food & Drink...
Fall
by Wendell Berry
The wild cherries ripen, black and fat,
Paradisal fruits that taste of no man's sweat.
Reach up, pull down the laden branch, and eat;
When you have learned their bitterness, they taste sweet.
This poem is new to me and I just love it - short, simple, wonderful.
