books & zines & knitting
I picked up these two books at the library last week and started my reading with A Country Life. It's a beautifully written season-by-season description of living in an English country house and caring for its expanding gardens. The author is the former director of the Victoria and Albert Museum so he has a certain flair for description and an eye on history.
I'm also working on drawings for a new zine! It will be the third installment of Creative Energy and theme will be something along the lines of "my favorite female artists of the 20th and 21st centuries." The title will needs some work, but that's the gist. So far I've made portraits for Judy Chicago, Ana Mendieta, Frida Kahlo, Cindy Sherman, and Louise Bourgeois. On each page I'm including a list of favorite works, as well as quotes.
I have a new knitting pattern in the works, too. A hat knit in the softest organic cotton with lots of texture.
