Project ReStyle :: T-shirt Yarn
I have another Project ReStyle project to share! You may not believe it, but this week I found a bag of t-shirts in the dumpster outside my apartment... the dumpster had been emptied that morning and when I took out my trash there was only one other bag in there and it was full of treasure! T-shirts in various colors, 4 pairs of shorts in my size, and an amazing canvas that I'm totally restyling in another project (more on that in another post...)! The canvas was sticking out of the bag, which caught my attention. When I dug it out I realized that the bag was full of great stuff : )
So here are the t-shirts, freshly laundered and in great shape. I used this genius tutorial to cut them into unbroken strips of t-shirt yarn. I wanted a thinner yarn, so I cut half-inch strips. Then I crocheted some of the yarn into these circular scrubbies...
I've been using one to wash dishes and it works great! I wasn't sure how it would compare to a sponge, but I actually like it better! The yarn is thick and sturdy so I can really scrub with it.
I'm using the rest of the yarn to get started on a rug : )
